I am sponsored by a Scottsdale Family.
My artist is Luann Beardmore.
I am here to support Rotary Club of Scottsdale.
And I have a story for you.......
The personification of strength and intelligence is the theme of this beautiful horse that fantastic local artist LuAnn Beardmore has created for us. In fact, the word Bidziil means a horse’s power and strength in the Navajo Indian Language. Every muscle and sinew of this horse is dedicated to bringing out the spirit and pride of Native Americans who were known as the people of the horse.
LuAnn has always considered herself to be a very spiritual person. She has a lot of respect for the ability of the Native Americans to live in harmony with nature. LuAnn should know because her family has roots in the Sioux Indian Community. She spent most of her childhood in Houston, Texas and moved to Scottsdale in 1994. It seemed like karma, she always somehow knew that she would end up living here in Scottsdale.
Bidziil is a proud horse. He is the product of LuAnn’s style of painting which she describes as organic, contemporary realism which creates different perspectives as you look at her work. What that means to us is that she incorporates real and beautiful images and patterns on Bidziil to pull us in and inspire us to live in a sustainable fashion just like the Native Americans. She used metallic paint, which she loves, and patterns to highlight the horse’s power to bring this message home.
LuAnn shared how Bidziil was brought to life by an instinctive and overwhelming desire to tell the story of how the American Indian created a society based on sustainability and respect for nature. The images she used, and the brush strokes that brought him to life were almost beyond her control. That is how much she in tune to bring her stallion to life.
By bidding on Bidziil, you will not only be supporting this amazing piece of art, but also the spirit and the heart of Native Americans. The beauty inherent in this horse comes from LuAnn who is not only an incredible talent, but a person who lives and breathes sustainability in her own life. Like most complex and powerful forces, Bidziil has different elements and hidden treasures that are represented on each side of it. Displaying this horse will generate an affinity with strength and purpose which will make him an asset wherever he is displayed.
We are proud of our support for youth in our area, Scottsdale's Rotary Park, Scottsdale Sister Cities, Rotary International and for the quality of our weekly luncheon speakers/programs.
The Scottdale Arabian Horse Show is a world-class horse show showcasing over 2,000 horses from around the world while providing entertainment for the whole family.
Since 1955 the Annual Scottsdale Arabian Horse Show has set the pace in the Arabian horse world. The first show was held at the grounds of the Arizona Biltmore Hotel which was a beautiful setting for a horse show. The Scottsdale Arabian Horse Show was a first class show from the very first day.
After the show's beginnings at the Arizona Biltmore, Ann McCormick bought 150 acres in Scottsdale and made it into the horse facility known as Paradise Park which served the needs of the show for many years.
Since that time, the show has been held at WestWorld in Scottsdale. It has grown from 50 horses to nearly 2400 horses bringing top owners, trainers and breeders from around the world competing for a chance at winning. A win at Scottsdale can mean big money in the breeding barns.
The 2023 Scottsdale Arabian Horse Show is proud to benefit these worthwhile charities: Arabian Horsemen's Distress Fund, Arabian Horse Promotional Fund, Friends of Vail Foundation, Healing Hearts Animal Rescue and Refuge, Hoofbeatz USA, Horses Help, March of Dimes, JDRF, Scottsdale Community College, Stallion Stampede, and Youth For Troops.
