ARIZONA Beauty
Our wonderful local artist Laura Thurbon who painted this beautiful stallion, was actually born and raised in Lima, Peru. She came to Arizona when she was in her early 20’s. When Laura arrived, she was blown away by the colors she saw throughout our area. This included not only in the environment but in everyday life. That is how she envisioned Arizona Beauty. This horse will absolutely not stand for anything but good feelings and happiness when people look at her.
Her sponsor Sunbrella Properties loved her design, so Laura took that and ran with it. In fact, she had proposed two designs and they asked if she could combine the two ideas into Arizona Beauty, and she said absolutely. The colors she used and the stylized desert plants are just brimming with life.

Laura is also well known for the incredible murals that she has painted. Murals are kind of the ultimate in street art which she embraces that with all her heart. She also brought to life another of our great stallions in the Stallion Stampede, Lexie’s Dream. The same amazing amount of love and dedication she brought to that horse and the story behind it, is also on full display in Arizona Beauty.
If you bid on this horse you will give everyone who sees him, a striking example of the color and the light that we see in our area. Arizona Beauty is rearing up to tell the world, that while we live among beautiful things in our state, they are not to be taken for granted. We must enjoy and nurture the gifts our environment has given us. Scottsdale Arabian Horse Show - February 16-26, 2023
The Scottdale Arabian Horse Show is a world-class horse show showcasing over 2,000 horses from around the world while providing entertainment for the whole family.
Scottsdale Arabian Horse Show History
Since 1955 the Annual Scottsdale Arabian Horse Show has set the pace in the Arabian horse world. The first show was held at the grounds of the Arizona Biltmore Hotel which was a beautiful setting for a horse show. The Scottsdale Arabian Horse Show was a first class show from the very first day.
After the show's beginnings at the Arizona Biltmore, Ann McCormick bought 150 acres in Scottsdale and made it into the horse facility known as Paradise Park which served the needs of the show for many years.
Since that time, the show has been held at WestWorld in Scottsdale. It has grown from 50 horses to nearly 2400 horses bringing top owners, trainers and breeders from around the world competing for a chance at winning. A win at Scottsdale can mean big money in the breeding barns.
The 2023 Scottsdale Arabian Horse Show is proud to benefit these worthwhile charities: Arabian Horsemen's Distress Fund, Arabian Horse Promotional Fund, Friends of Vail Foundation, Healing Hearts Animal Rescue and Refuge, Hoofbeatz USA, Horses Help, March of Dimes, JDRF, Scottsdale Community College, Stallion Stampede, and Youth For Troops.
