And I have a story for you.....
Strong, elegant and awe inspiring, that is how Canadian born artist Niki Woehler describes her amazing horse Ransom. She wanted him to evoke a sense of mystery and curiosity about what this incredible animal was up to. Niki named the horse Ransom because she wanted everyone to feel this horse had a real edge to it. We know that once you see him on display, you will know that the spirit around him is something very special.
Niki has always loved challenging herself by exploring new art projects and ideas. She had only done one 3-dimensional piece of art before Ransom. But ever since she spent the entire first night cleaning and preparing it to be brought to life, this horse has grown into something that has totally captivated her heart.
Niki has created a lot of beautiful art pieces for charity over the years. She is especially excited about the possibility that Barrett Jackson, which sponsored Ransom, will raise a lot of money for charity when Ransom is auctioned off in April. Half of the proceeds will benefit the American Heart Association which was chosen by Barrett Jackson as its beneficiary. The other half will go to the Scottsdale Rotary Club Foundation which sponsors numerous activities in Scottdale including scholarships for worthy high school graduates in Scottsdale.
Niki grew up in Toronto, Canada and moved to Scottsdale in 1994. Her Mother loved art as a hobby but she made it a point to encourage Niki to harness her god given artistic talent into her livelihood, which she has done to an amazing level of success. She also loves to give back to the community. One really cool example of that is by encouraging kids to overcome their fear of expression by literally throwing paint at a canvas which has a great cathartic effect on them. Niki loves Scottsdale and she, and her family, are here to stay.
She knows it will be really hard to see Ransom go. She even joked that she would love it if someone would start a go fund me page to buy him for herself. Little did she know that when she named the horse Ransom it would not be just for the edgy feel she wanted to convey, but also because the horse literally stole her heart and is holding it for Ransom.

The Scottdale Arabian Horse Show is a world-class horse show showcasing over 2,000 horses from around the world while providing entertainment for the whole family.
Since 1955 the Annual Scottsdale Arabian Horse Show has set the pace in the Arabian horse world. The first show was held at the grounds of the Arizona Biltmore Hotel which was a beautiful setting for a horse show. The Scottsdale Arabian Horse Show was a first class show from the very first day.
After the show's beginnings at the Arizona Biltmore, Ann McCormick bought 150 acres in Scottsdale and made it into the horse facility known as Paradise Park which served the needs of the show for many years.
Since that time, the show has been held at WestWorld in Scottsdale. It has grown from 50 horses to nearly 2400 horses bringing top owners, trainers and breeders from around the world competing for a chance at winning. A win at Scottsdale can mean big money in the breeding barns.
The 2023 Scottsdale Arabian Horse Show is proud to benefit these worthwhile charities: Arabian Horsemen's Distress Fund, Arabian Horse Promotional Fund, Friends of Vail Foundation, Healing Hearts Animal Rescue and Refuge, Hoofbeatz USA, Horses Help, March of Dimes, JDRF, Scottsdale Community College, Stallion Stampede, and Youth For Troops.
